Wood Burning – SA21
Learn to use a constant temperature wood burning pencil. Ron will teach the basic and easy
fundamentals of wood burning gourds. He will use common tips and helpful
hints. Gourds, manual, props, and
supplies are all furnished. Some wood burners
and tips will be available for use, but bring your own, if possible.

Gourd
Workbasket – FR04 Learn to make a very sturdy workbasket/gourd
to keep your gourd tools in! Student will learn to lash a rim and add a
hand-carved white
oak handle and ears. Beads will be
added. Gourd dying will be discussed.

Gourd Purse – FR10 This project features a sturdy canteen gourd from the Welburn Gourd Farm in
· Beginning Decoupage – SA22 Learn basic decoupage using fancy handmade papers. Add a rim of palm inflorescence. We will look at and discuss other finished pieces. Assorted gourd colors and papers will be offered so no two will be alike.

Cabbage Rose Birdhouse – FR03 Learn the basics of “one stroke” painting from
a one stroke certified instructor. This
is an easy project for beginners. We
will practice each stroke individually and then put them together to form the
design. Patterns provided, but students
will free-hand onto gourd.

Old World Santa on a Gourd - SU26
While painting an Old
World Santa, we will do a face study and add details like a cookie jar
and a bag filled with toys on this full Santa.

Peyote-Stitch
Beaded Gourd Collar – FR06 You will color a
small bottle gourd before learning the basic Peyote bead weaving stitch with
large pony beads. Use jumbo delica beads to weave a collar onto the gourd neck, and add
beaded fringe.

Drawing Tips – SA14 This class is for gourd
artists who would like a better handle
on drawing figures. Learn comparative
measuring techniques and key elements to look for while drawing. The student will not be taking home a gourd
from this class…but the drawing skills achieved will be applicable to future
gourd art.

Knotless
Netting Gourd Collar – SA20 Each student will color a small bottle gourd
before learning the basic knotless netting stitch to weave a collar onto the
gourd neck. We’ll finish the design with
strands of bead fringe.

Inn – SU27 – Receive step by step instructions on how to paint a
functional adorable birdhouse.

Grape
Bowl with lid – SU25 Bob will demonstrate and help students cut the
gourd. With Emily, you will decoupage pressed grape
leaves and tissue paper grapes onto the gourd you have leather dyed. Embellish with gold metallic wax.

with Oils – SA24 Learn the technique of painting geraniums
(cluster flowers) with oils.

Kokopelli
with Stained Glass look – FR12 Use leather paint to color Kokopelli
and leather dyes to give the background a stained glass look. Learn to etch around the design with a rotary
tool.

Fruit
Carved in Relief – SA18 You will put a fruit
design on a gourd and color, using leather dyes. You will then carve this
design in relief with a rotary tool.

Dancing Pet Gourds – FR02
Create your own charming gourd character that dances magically and can be
“trained” to sit on your shoulder. This class includes
beginner to advanced students.

Creating
Clay Chickens or Birds – SA16
Experiment with several varieties of clay and gourds to create chickens
or birds. Finished examples will be
available. Due to drying times, painting
techniques will be discussed and demonstrated, but student will paint their
gourd at home.

Introduction
to Design Master – FR05 Beginning with a cleaned, cut gourd, use Design Master to achieve multiple colors on a
gourd (similar to air brushing). Experiment with a variety of colors and
techniques. Everyone will take home a
colored, sealed gourd. Part of the
class will take place outside, so dress accordingly.

Wild
Woman Wall Hanging – FR11 In this class you will make use of left over
gourd pieces! Begin with dyed, sealed gourd pieces – learn to design and
embellish these “Wild Women” wall hangings.
Various tools will be provided to create your own wood burning and/or “Dremel” designs.

Coil
Weave with Space Dyed Danish Cord – SA17 Beginning with a dyed gourd, students will
learn to do a simple coil weave using variegated Danish cord. Color techniques
and basic gourd art will be discussed.

Birdhouse
– SA23 This class provides a
great use of those gourd pieces that might otherwise be discarded. Using a dyed gourd piece for the top and
bottom, this whimsical birdhouse has a woven center. Simple weaving techniques are taught.
·
Rainbow
Harmony – SU29 Beginning with a dyed gourd, learn to do a
coil weave using space dyed Danish
cord. A special “locking stitch” will be
introduced that enables the
creation of sculptural “windows”. The finished piece can be embellished. This is a fun, creative class.

Wood Burned
Mini-Gourd Necklace – FR09 Use
unique techniques and tools to create
a beautiful miniature gourd necklace.
Learn how to make and use a pattern drawn on
masking tape, which is then applied to the gourd’s surface using a hot
tool. Detailed work is required, but the techniques are
easy to learn.

Head – SA15 Create a classic
“Old West” style gourd using acrylic paints and pen and ink techniques for a stunning buffalo
head on a gourd.

Old Barn – SU31 Use oil paints
to create a barn scene with lush pasture that will remind you of a sweet summer
day.

Ornament – FR08 Paint an Old World Santa ornament on a
miniature banana gourd. An excellent
“face study”.

Butterfly Cutout – SA13 Create a butterfly scene using your gourd
saw. Beginning and more advanced
techniques will be discussed along with options of design. Student will dye and add color according to
their preference.

Gouge Birdhouse – SU32 Starting with a raw gourd, we will cover and
practice the basics of wood gouging.
When students are ready, we will discuss bird needs and
gourd layout. After gouging, we
dye and hang the completed birdhouse.

Resist on Gourd – FR01 Create the illusion of African Mud Cloth with
wax resist, using a kitska
and beeswax to create patterns and
fill in with leather dye and Pentel colored
pens. Sew on sea grass and embellish
with beads and shells.

Teneriffe
Lace Necklace – FR07 You will create a pattern and learn how to
apply it to the gourd.
Also, you will learn the basic over and under weave to create Teneriffe, embellish with beads and make a slide knot to
adjust necklace length.

with Flag – SU30 A combination of water color pencils and
acrylic paint will be used to craft the finished project. The water color pencil technique is one I
developed to give the gourd a
time-worn look.

· Pyroengraving Native American Designs – SU28 Sketch and wood burn a Native American story gourd under the direction of “Navache”. Learn the meaning of the symbols as you write your own story on the back of your gourd, featuring a Native American pony.
